As a member of the KJR, it is expected that each player commits to playing within our Domestic Competition the necessary number of games required to qualify for the season finals – that is, half of the season’s games plus one, as a minimum. This standard is crucial and non-negotiable, designed with the utmost consideration to fairness, commitment, and the competitive integrity of our league.
The rationale behind this rule is simple yet vital: regular participation fosters not only individual skill improvement but also strengthens our teams and the Knox community. Each game is an opportunity to refine your skills, understand your teammates, and build that irreplaceable on-court chemistry that is the hallmark of successful basketball squads.
Please understand, failure to adhere to this expectation, except for those with exemptions, will mean that you are unable to continue along the KJR pathway. The only exemptions recognised are for players who are participating in Victorian or National Pathway Programs, acknowledging the demands of these prestigious commitments.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to all new players joining the KJR. For those who are currently not registered to a domestic team, or if you are unsure about your current standing, we encourage you to reach out to Mr. Peter Cameron. Peter is instrumental in guiding players to clubs that have available positions and are a suitable match concerning ability level, location, and personal development goals. You can discuss your options and seek advice by contacting him at p.jcam@bigpond.net.au
Looking ahead to the VJBL season of 24/25, it’s important to note that this expectation will be extended to those players who are eligible to participate in our Under 19 Domestic Competition. This step ensures that our Junior Raiders consistently experience high-level domestic games, which are crucial to the ongoing enhancement of skills and the robustness of our community spirit.
We trust that you will take this expectation to heart, understanding its role in not only maintaining the standards of the KJR program but also in your personal development as players and valued members of our community. Basketball is as much about teamwork and commitment as it is about talent and skill.
We appreciate your dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm in upholding the proud tradition of the Knox Junior Raiders. Here’s to a fantastic season ahead, filled with growth, camaraderie, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
